I would never have a smart meter fitted. Only yesterday I got a second email from my energy provider saying they were intending to fit one, and I emailed them back to say I'm happy with my present ones: I ring them every 90 days with accurate readings, as I'm on quarterly direct debit. You do not have to accept a smart meter - to quote from the ofgem website:
"they aren't compulsory and you can choose not to have one".
I wonder who's going to foot the bill for the estimated £11 billion cost of rolling this out?
