If it's off the runway one might have thought it wasn't such a problem.
Call out the AA to get it taxiing again.

No-one was hurt and passengers were disembarked and returned to the terminal by coach," a spokesman said.
I suippose they have to check the runway for banana skins or similar possible causes before they can reopen it.

many flights were cancelled.
Hi Emmie I hope you have a Blithe Yule and a Guid New Year,
with best wishes from North of the Border.

Hi Rich
how are you, well i hope, and I wish
you a Happy Christmas and New Year.
Bristol is my favourite airport. But its only quite small, and it will quickly fill up with passengers if the delays go on much longer.

they cancelled lots of flights, let us hope they get away today..
BBC Radio Bristol says plane's been cleared.
In my opinion they should have moved Bristol Airport to Filton. Right alongside the M5, M4 and A38.
And have more planes going over my place ? No thanks.
Boaty.....I agree. The runway was built for the Brabazon, if my memory serves me correctly. But the local residents would never have allowed it Filton to be used as major Airport.

By the way, the runway has now been dug up !

I can remember working in the adjoining Royal Mail sorting office, when 2 RAF fighters came into land together ( not sure what planes they were ? ) And the whole building shook !

There was also a Spitfire based there !
The man problem with Bristol Airport is its lack of good road communication.

There needs to be another exit off the M5, somewhere between junctions 20 and 21. If you are coming from the M4/M5 interchange, then a long trawl down through Bristol, or down the Portway is unavoidable.
perhaps they made the mistake of asking an aviatrix to park it?
Question Author
ael
maybe but aviators make mistakes too, lol
thought i'd got away with that one :-)
Question Author
no chance....
A newish South Bristol link opened last year/ this year but you still need to access it via the swing bridge. A new route beyond J18 is needed.J
Bob...At the moment, if I was travelling to the Airport, I would go down the Portway, and then through Barrow Gurney, which is probably not what the residents of Barrow Gurney want at all !
