Apple Ipads And The New Apple Ios 11
11 Answers
Hi techie answerbankers out there ... I've just been listening to the Gadget Detective guy on Radio 5 and he was saying that Apple will be changing to their IOS 11 (that right?) operating system in the autumn, and that thousands of people with older devices won't be able to use them because this new OS won't support older devices. Or did I understand incorrectly? So, if that is right, does that mean that neither my husband nor I will be able to use our several year old Apple Ipads (the mini) after the change to IOS11? Sounds very ominous and I have a feeling that we're going to have to get ourselves new ipads. Any help or advice would be gratefully received. Cheers, Chox.

Thanks for the reassurance, woofgang. Two new ipads won't come cheap - we don't get new apps that often, just use certain apps (which we have had for ages) most of the time. However, if we do decide to get new ones in the future, we will patronise the opposition! I knew someone would be able to help! Bit of a "phew" around here!
As per Woofgang's answers your iPad will continue to work fine as will the apps you have on them. The real bug bear is if one has an iPad which can update to IOS 11 but one also has a bunch of useful apps which will NOT work on IOS 11 and won't be updated as they've been 'abandoned', what to do in this instance? Blummin' technology :-)
