standing minding my own business at an Oxford St bus stop something fell onto my shoe. No one moved a muscle - and I looked down and saw my wallet ! - yup it had jumped out of my trouser pocket

I thougth I had been do-nutted - surrounded by thieves

MM - my mothers fren found £200 in 1935 - and incredible amount of money then. She handed it in to the police station as er one did then - no problem finding one and finding it open - The loser swept in and claimed it with ident and turned to the fren' and said
" Your reward will be in Heaven!" and swept out again

Why would the person who nicked it, put it back on the floor of the pub, as it could have been picked up by somebody else, and not handed it in.

He should have put it through the letter box, when the pub was closed.

But nice story.
