If you just want to record programmes, get a PVR such as Humax.

To see the posts for a different username, simply go to that link, manually change the username in your browser's address bar to the one you want and hit 'Enter'

How will you be receiving programmes in future? If it will still be via your satellite dish (rather than viewing Freeview services, using a terrestrial aerial), you can either feed the output from your old Sky box box to a PVR in order to record it or buy a dedicated Freesat box which incorporates a recording facility. The former method only allows you to record the programme you're watching, whereas the latter allows you to watch one programme while recording another.

Thanks folks, didn't realise I could do that.

Seems the best solution for me, as to record, pause etc is a must for me, is to go with sunnydaves suggestion, as I had given up broadband & telephone rental with sky 6 weeks ago, and went with my mobile provider EE, which is half the cost, and free calls unlimited.

## If you want to record/pause live TV (and refuse to pay Sky) then you'll need some sort of box attached to your terrestrial aerial - the cheapest way is often to take the TV package from your broadbnand supplier - it won't cost more than a fiver a month and they'll supply a freeview recorder box (rather than you buying one).

Only just seen your post having sent mine.

I have just remembered as well that I have the Amazon firestick, that has Netflix, and their sub-title service is superior to sky, with a choice of font size, and colours.

Today I have signed up with EE-TV+ Fibre Broadband for £5 extra added to my broadband/home telephone cost, so my total monthly bill is only £31.50, including unlimited calls, record 4 programmes at a time, pause, start a programme from the start, if missed the beginning etc, so well pleased.

They are also giving me a freebie, as a bonus for signing up (dont know what yet). I wish I had done it ages ago, as my Sky bill was getting up to £80+ a month.

I only need an indoor/outside ariel, so thats not a problem, so thanks once again Folks, for your input.
