I know your not suppose to on NY eve but can I do it on NY day?

all washing and housework has to be up to date before the bells...aye right ! lol...

No washing on NY day was always the rule when I was growing up. Done 3 loads today. The house isn't getting cleaned though Anne. Went to Lidl this morning and on the shelves where you pack your bags there was a large bag of coal for customers to take a piece for first footing

ny day here in hampshire too. I have just rounded up all mine to do ths afternoon

No chance of my house being cleaned by tomorrow- I look at those houses on the OCD programmes and think - well there not that bad

Don't do your washing on a Sunday (today), New Year's Day or Good Friday.
If you do apparently it washes someone out of your family. I know they're only superstitions but I don't risk it!

I will next do a load of washing hen it becomes apparent that I am running out of knickers.

Thanks, Ric and no you're not imagining it.....MrG Snr died in 1949 and MrG has had the no washing rule since.....

I can't recall a no washing on Sunday superstition...but I wasn't allowed to sew on Sunday or when I died I wouldn't be allowed into heaven until I had unpicked every sewn on a Sunday stitch....with my nose.... :-(
