did they catch me speeding

i know i've done wrong i was travelling to the beach on 01/07/06 the motorway was empty due to england game so when i hit the motorway i thought i'd try the speed of my new ford mondeo 1.8 16 valve car. i reached 135mph thought nothing of it slowed back down to speed limit now am crapping my pants cuz i've had my licence for less than 2 years and i've been told i face an instant ban and my licence taken off me and maybe imprisonment please tell me the longest i must wait to see if i face punishment or know weather i got off the hook i deeply regret my actions thanx for any help you may be able to provide

Well, all I can say, is that it happened, I didnt dream it, he may well of been charged with dangerous driving, but he was not involved in any kind of accident, he was just followed by an unmarked patrol car who clocked his speed and gave chase.

Dangerous driving was the offence charged. Below is an extract from the BBC article:

The 29-year-old had been riding with a friend, 29-year-old Neil Bolger, whose Kawasaki 750cc was recorded at a speed of 148 miles per hour.

Bolger, of Park Lane, Lower Quinton, Stratford-upon-Avon, was also jailed for 28 days when the pair appeared before magistrates in Aylesbury on Tuesday.

'Unique offence'

The two vehicle technicians, who both work for the same company, had pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at an earlier hearing.

Quite right, however, you have stated that "it has been ruled that excess speed by itself (however high) cannot support a charge of dangerous driving", well, thats all that happened, they went very fast, got charged with dangerous driving, and got banged up.

no excuse for such excessive speeding,if you get banged up, ask the judge if you can take some vaseline with you

well thanks for your help i think. i assume that i cant be imprissoned for speeding and that unless the letters lost in the post i must recieve nottice of the offence by the 15/07/06 many thanks again
