Booking A Day Off For My Birthday

It's my birthday at the end of the month, so I've booked a day off work so I can relax!

Does anyone else do this? My friends and family have had a mixed response, with some saying they don't understand the point (it's not a milestone birthday), and others saying they book their birthday off every year!

I'm with you, anthro. I take my Birthday off from work too. Nothing wrong with it at all.
I used to book the day off too when I was working, no brainer !

Stephen, hereIam, thanks! Now to think what to do with the day! Hopefully it won't be raining!
I always used to enjoy a lie in first anthro ...

A lie in goes without saying... the problem is if my lie in takes me to nearly midday (which the Christmas break has seen multiple times!) and then I've wasted half a precious day already! hehe...
Still got over half a day left with NO WORK (bliss) ...
When I was working I always took my birthday as a holiday.

I've always been lucky enough to work where nobody works on my birthday but I know lots of people who take their day off and I probably would too.
I never have done. It has never really occurred to me.
yup I have never worked on my birthday
I work Christmas day, bank holidays, weekends etc too, so I suppose a birthday wouldn't really register.
When I was working, I often booked my birthday off. The alternative was being marched down the nearest pub and buying drinks for whole department after an earlier feast on the cakes I had brought!!!!!
My job means my birthday is in the off season anyway, but in my previous jobs I wouldn't have taken the day off.
If any of my current colleagues took a summer day off for their birthday they wouldn't be looked on very favourably. It all depends on the the type of work you do, I suppose.
I did some years and not others....loved it when I did though
Cant remember ever taking the day off - I am Self employed so I choose on the day - I had a significant birthday in December and went to work by choice
I've always taken mine off...that's what the August Bank Holiday is for ;-)
