I’ve just finished watching ‘Feud’, about the relationship between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, and I’d like to know more about them. I know there’s a series of biographies about film stars on one of the less well-known TV channels but for the life of me I can’t remember what channel it’s on or what the series is called. Does anyone know? Something like ‘Remembering whoever’?

YES!!!! That's it! Well done! Thank you Guilbert53.
That was a fantastic program, over Christmas BBC 2 did a docu on Bette Davis before showing all about Eve so it may still be available.

did you enjoy the programme? I did and thought the script and acting were excellent.
Sky Arts have a revolving series; if you miss one it'll probably turn up again in a month or two. Mostly Americans, I think; but it's a pretty good channel.

Yes, Emmie, I did enjoy it. I found it very sad really, but now I want to know more about them. That Joan Crawford lost her virginity at 11 to her step father was just appalling! What a horrible life she must have lived as a youngster. Brilliant acting, Susan Sarandon especially.
I don't have sky so occasionally miss some good things.

jno, that's the series I'm talking about - the one that Guilbert53 has kindly reminded me of. I've seen bits of it before but just couldn't remember where I'd seen it or the title.
Mommy dearest is a fantastic book and film, and Bette's daughter also wrote a book although I have not read it
I also found it sad, that after a lifetime of acting in films they were essentially redundant and forced into poor shows and the odd macabre film.
Joan Crawford as you say must have had a horrendous time of it, terrible what he did to her whilst she was so very young. It must have affected her for the rest of her life.
Question Author
Islay, Mommy Dearest is the book that Joan Crawford said is all lies, isn't it?

As I understand it, from the programme, Bette Davis's daughter and her family became some sort of born again Christians and never spoke to Bette again.

I found the whole thing sad.
I am glad you enjoyed it, i mooted it a while back as something to watch out for.
They are doing a new Feud about Charles and Diana, which could let the cat out of the bag on their tortuous relationship. I know its a drama but there must be some truths in there.
Question Author
emmie, incredible really. All that glitz, glamour, and luxury - and so much unhappiness.
Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons had a lot to answer for in their gossip columns, stirring up dislike, even hatred when there wasn't any.
Question Author
Oh yes indeed!! I think they could make or break people.
all the acting was great but Susan Sarandon stood out as Bette Davis,

when you think on it how many roles shall we say are available to older actresses, apart from say Judy Dench i can't think of that many, its all to do with youth and glamour.. I hope that these ladies win lots of awards for Feud, as they deserve it.
Question Author
I think it's a bit better now for more mature women than it was in their day.
Its not finished yet .... Last two episodes this Saturday!!!
Question Author
I downloaded all eight episodes.
I watched all episodes on I Player...
