Increasing Buoyancy On A Model Boat
8 Answers
Ok, a bit of a how it works / science question.
I have a radio control boat that is sitting a bit low in the water. Can i put something more buoyant like polystyrene inside the hull to make it float higher. Or does the hull have to be made of the more buoyant material on the outside to take effect.
Can i make an already premade hull float higher? Similarily if you can put polystyrene in can you put it on one side to increase it on one side.

"...but I think putting polystyrene inside won’t make a bit of difference." Yes it will. It will make the boat heavier and so it will sit even lower in the water. As Mexican says, you must decrease the weight of the boat. Any extra buoyancy added must be added to the outside below the current water line (like a " lifejacket") to increase the volume of the vessel....
