I am looking for some 4ft x 8ft boards to create my own photography backdrops. I have visited my local Wickes store and they supply both polystyrene boards and Celotex insulation boards. It seems that polystyrene is only paintable if it has the protective plastic film coating which at Wickes it does not so I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to paint or possibly wallpaper Celotex boards.

Why celotex, have you thought of using MDF?

I need something that is very light as they will be moved around a lot. Also something that would not injure a client if they were knocked over.
Perhaps a shellac type covering like Zinnser B.I.N would do it. I think it comes up bright white.

I think the facing is aluminum foil and paint would soon crack and flake off the surface. Paste the wall lining paper painted could work.
