But also do get yourself checked over at a GOOD wellwoman clinic, and say you are concerned about endometriosis. PMS is a symptom of this(as well as other things, so dont get paranoid) and if you do have it it is MUCH better to catch it early.
i used to be out of action for about 5 days a month because of horrendous periods; i'd always throw up, be depressed, in massive pain, get anaemic and sometimes black out. i was diagnosed with something called dismennorea (not sure about spelling) which is just having really heavy periods from hell. it was such fun! i'm now on a highish dose progesterone only pill and don't have them at all (woohoo!) which can happen for about half the women on it. it is also ok to take the normal pill without a break as i was doing that before going on the pop. talk to your gp? as they can give you special anti-inflammatory painkillers called mefanamic acid or naproxin (naproxin's stronger) which really helped and talk about the pill. there may be a doc at your surgery who knows more about this sort of stuff than others. although they will probably refer you to a gynaecolgist to rule out anything really nasty. also they can be worse if you are very overweight (which i was) or have diabetes (which i have). hope this helps. xx
Thank you all so much for suggestions.I am 41, have had the problem for years but it has got much worse.I already do an exercise class and walk about 5 miles a dayand am not a smoker.I'm not on the pill because of a family history of breast cancer (Family history clinic advised against it).Have made an app.with doc to find out about endometriosis, depo provera and whether or not I can take progesterone only pill! Thanks everybody for replies!XX
