The Stylistics was one of the most well-known Philadelphia soul groups of the 1970s. They were formed in 1968 from the fragments of two Philadelphia groups, the Monarchs and the Percussions.

It's the way English language is used in novels, poetry etc... to get a point across I think. How people write influences the mood of a book, how to change tone, why we don't all write like Dickens.... think that's vaguely what it is but am open to correcting!

Stylistics is the study of style used in literary, and verbal language and the effect the writer/speaker wishes to communicate to the reader/hearer. It attempts to establish principles capable of explaining the particular choices made by individuals and social groups in their use of language, such as, socialization, the production and reception of meaning, literary criticism, and critical discourse analysis.
