The Coronation
I watched last nights program, and I was pleasantly surprised by all the crisp, colour footage of the ceremony. I am not sure I had seen that footage before.

But I was impressed with the way that the ceremony was planned and carried out. Considering the problems that we still faced in 1953, what with the War only being over 8 years before, it was remarkable that we did it at all, let alone as well as we did.
By the way, the coronation happened just 2 days before I was born. My Mum used to tell me that a TV was wheeled into the Maternity Ward of her Hospital, in North London, so she and the other mothers could watch, although my screaming interfered with the sound !
