Have you ever had the above?
When we were renovating our old house MrG spent some time telling me that he was going to paint the name stone above the front door with the step ladder against the door so on no account was I to open the front door.....
I wander if folk are verbose....or I have a bad memory perhaps....
When, a few minutes later I heard a noise at the front door, I opened it.....well you do don't you?.......
The step ladder....MrG with paint pot in one hand....brush in the other...... floated face down onto the newly laid hall carpet....... :-)
You?....x

So I have the brackets, the drill, the screws, the rawl plug. I carefully mark where I have to drill. As I am stood on a chair drilling, the drill suddenly feels very heavy and I completely lose control of it. The tiny well marked hole suddenly turns into a cavernous pit.
The reason the drill got heavy? Well I had recently acquired a very sweet, but very very naughty kitten. The dangling drill lead was too much of a temptation. Wall 0 - ASBO 1.
I cant remember what else I did there. But eventually I had to beg my little brother to come and help me. He said to me I should stop trying this stuff on the basis "I dont mess with the law, you shouldnt mess with building stuff".

We lived in a house that had opaque glass panels above the interior doors. One was cracked so his lordship decided to replace it. There he was, up the ladder, very carefully about to place new glass panel in required position, through the open back door the German Shepherd we had at the time saw a cat on the shed roof. Long story short-dog flew out sort of taking ladder with her, hubby went flying, glass shattered and he ended up in A&E having glass splinters removed.
