head girl interview

i have got an interview for head girl at my school next week and i am desparately trying to think of something orriginal to say. i basically need to be able to discuss what i could offer to the school and how i could improve areas of it making it a better place to study. does anyone have any ideas which i could use. i have already thought of increasing links between the school and the local community but cant think of anything more orriginal. please help as i know i will make a fantastic head girl if i get the position.

you could try & get other students involved in race for life- that way you would be championing students health & fitness while raising cash & awareness for a good cause.
also staying with the fitness thing could you arrange some after school or lunchtime team sports as exercise is good for helping you concentrate more & de-stressing. you could even mock up some advert flyers & get students signed up before your interview to show you are serious, comitted & capable.

you could maybe think of ideas for your own anti-bullying campain. maybe like a buddy system where students who do not get bullied volunteer to team up with kids who are & do activities together as a group like going shopping at the weekend or something to create a support network.
you would be an ambassador for the student body to raise their issues, but also a voice of support for faculty helping to get the schools issues accross to pupils in a non teacher like way (hope its making sense!)

(me again!)... you could see if there are any jobs around the school you could get students involved in like a bit of paining or recycling to promote pride in your school.
if you are into helping the community- how about a volunteer service to help the elderly. you could set up to help with jobs like gardening or encourage pupils to write stories & letters to distribute to pensioners on their own as they can get very lonely (not sure how the school would view visiting them though due to safety & security)
anyway- you've obviously got ambition & confidence to want to do this, so be yourself, give it 100% & show you can lead by example. i'm sure you will be great!

when i was a deputy head girl we campaigned to get a room purely for the use of those studying A'levels (or equivalent) away from the noise of the rest of the school where we could revise in peace. this room was great because we always had somewhere to go during free periods to chat (quitely of course!) and get some work done as well.

Why don't you try and create a link between teachers and students. I know this worked really well in my school but it was only limited to A level students. You could have set days where teachers play students at certain sports or set up a kind of "egg heads" quiz where students challenge a team of teachers. This creates a friendly competative atmopshere between teachers and students. Knowing teachers were not all nasty, smelly, grumpy people really helped me at school as I was more inclined to work hard and knew I had a teacher I could go to when I needed support.
