This is a very busy airport, so the trouble this is causing must be terrible.
The last time I flew into Schiphol, we made 3 attempts to land and only just succeeded on the 3rd. Its the only time that I have felt really frightened in an aircraft. Schiphol seems to be prone to high winds.

The main problem with Leeds/Bradford airport is that the runway faces the wrong direction. The prevailing winds in the UK are from the west and most large airports have their runways aligned as closely as possible to the east/west direction (designated 09/27 or thereabouts). That at Leeds/Bradford is designated 32/14 meaning it is aligned roughly north west (which is 315 degrees) to south east (135 degrees). North westerly and south easterly winds are uncommon in the UK and so for much of the time aircraft are landing and taking off in crosswinds.
