For the last3/4 weeks I have been in agony with my right hip. So painful, difficult to walk, sit, stand etc. Last week I made an appointment at my doctors. Earliest appt 3 weeks. Yesterday I went back to the surgery to see if I could get a cancellation or emergency appt. this was at 1.00 pm. I was told to go home and telephone at 2.00 pm to get an emergency appt. This I did and got one in the afternoon at a surgery I didn't know.
Saw a nice lady doctor, she didn't think an X-ray was any good at this stage.
She prescribed Co-codamol for pain relief. OMeprazole, and Naproxen.
I couldn't get the pills until this morning. Took my first lot at about
11.00 am.
This afternoon about 3.00 I started to feel ill. My upper stomach swelled so much I looked pregnant. I had severe nausea but couldn't actually be sick and excess sweating. I felt so ill I had to lie down and slept for 3 hours.
I gradually started to feel better. I haven't eaten since breakfast and do not even feel hungry.
I have not dared to have the evening dose of tablets and I don't think I will be having anymore.
What do you think I should do folks?

WOW, bad side affects Caran. Is there an out of hours / walk in centre you could phone ?.
If it were me I'd drop the Naproxen until you've spoken to someone and try the Cocodamol for the pain alone.

Be aware and prepared for possible constipation however.

Having looked at the endless list of possible side effects on all three I am reluctant to take any of them!
Call 111 for advice.
The thing is though, Caran. If you stopped taking them all could you put up with the pain in your hip until you can get back to the doc's.
I'd do the same as mamya suggests, on the grounds that I've taken the other two without trouble. Nuit that's not a medically qualified opinion on my part.

Tell your doctor straight away if you have:

severe indigestion, heartburn, pains in your stomach, feeling sick or vomiting or diarrhoea - these can be signs of an ulcer or inflammation in the stomach or gut

Ah yes, good call Chris.
Have you had Naproxen before Caran? Or Omeprazole? They will have been given to stop Naproxen irritating your stomach. Don't like the sound of your stomach swelling. If it happens again I would go to A+E, although it won't be the nicest of places on a Saturday night.
Good luck, feel better,

Never taken any of these tablets before.
I know exactly how you feel,Caran. I would just stick with the co-cardamol for now.
10 months ago I fractured the top of right femur and right hip went too. They misdiagnosed and 2 months before they finally x rayed. Couldn't weight bear at all. Long story short am still on crutches and waiting for urgent hip operation. Also happened 3 weeks after husband's funeral.
Good luck with it and I hope you don't have such a long wait.
My mother uses green lipped mussel rub.
