Online Prescription Service By Post

Has anyone used this service or heard of them even.

I've been speaking with someone this evening who is signed up with this company and received her first prescription medication by post from Yorkshire a good 240 miles away.

She had thought she was signing up to her surgery, but somehow ended up with these people. Personally I wouldn't use such a service! What if a parcel gets lost in the post..your not home to take delivery. I have had parcels left in the bin area and rescued just in time..Not a regular occurrence but no way do I think its a good way to get medication delivered.

I order direct from my surgery, its faxed to the local pharmacy who deliver the next day, and just as important wouldn't leave it with anyone else if I'm not at home.

Somehow, I have a leaflet from these people. I'm happy with the service I get from my local surgery and pharmacy, so won't be bothering them.

I've had a mail shot from them. I checked with my local pharmacy who said it had nothing to do with them. You are right to be concerned.

I've had their leaflet and another from a different service, I too am happy with my current reordering.

Good idea if you live a long way from a pharmacy or have mobility problems. But in my case the pharmacy is only 50 yards from my front door,in the same building as my surgery and I have no mobility problem. But if you do use it ,it does not matter where in the UK the item are posted as long as the post delivers them on time.

Boots also use Royal Mail to deliver prescriptions.

I deal direct with my GP practice who send my repeat prescriptions to the local Boots. I wouldn't think of trusting a company like the one mentioned - how do they know the drugs are legal? Very strange. How does she know what drugs she needs if she hasn't eegistered with her local GP?
If you can't collect your prescriptions from the pharmacy, they will usually deliver locally.

Its not strange and its a legal service, properly registered. My neighbour used to get his diabetes needles and syringes from a mail service. Its just another option for people to use or not, no one is insisting.

hellywelly, this company works the same way as local chemists who use the EPS system with the GP.
The GP sends the prescriptions to this company who then post them out to your home, place of work or wherever you prefer.
It is regulated by the General Pharmaceutical Council in the same way that all dispensing pharmacies are.

I use the EPs with my local chemist. I order the repeat prescription online, the GP sends it to my chemist who delivers same day or next day. Excellent free service.

When I order a repeat prescription the surgery sends it electronically to my chosen pharmacy who then deliver it to my door. I couldn't ask for better service.

Very risky, I wouldn't use a service that posts your prescription.

As long as I can walk and drive I'll pick up my own prescriptions!

The person who alerted me to the postal set up has today cancelled the system in preference to a local chemist.

She now will use the same system as I do, order online direct to the surgery who fax the prescription to the pharmacy who deliver direct to our door. Works very efficiently too.

Its ok to walk and get your own corylus but its now in our later years we need to make use of the services available.

cupotee, the system that you use (EPS) is the same as the system that the website you posted is linked to.....its just that the GP sends the prescription to them instead of your local pharmacy.....that one also has an online GP service which you can purchase on a consultation by consultation basis if you wish. The neighbour I used to have who got his diabetes supplies delivered by mail was jolly glad that his stuff could be left with someone else (me, the neighbour) as it meant he could go out and play golf instead of waiting in for the package.

I used the service for two years. Bona fide and useful if getting out (or in my case laziness) is a problem. Worked well mainly, but two delays ("system upgrade" and "supply problem") led to my being without my (very non-critical med) and I cancelled. If I really needed the prescription I would have been in trouble.
