It is regarded as good/polite practice to avoid giving the results of eagerly awaited sports events in either a headline or first post - especially when the events are happening at times when people may be at work or asleep and may wish to watch them later without knowing the results.
Successive Ab_Eds have endorsed this policy and if a mod sees a deliberate spoiler they are encouraged to deleted it and replace with a post which avoids spoiling other people's fun.
It's not actually that difficult to be nice - but apparently for certain incorrigible ABers it's just too much trouble.
