Do long-term viewers of Emmerdale know that Tracy has a "past" as a prostitute? Or has this just been invented in order to give the actress who plays her a more prominent part for a while?
Yes, she first came into it as a chat line con lady, she then got Sam to get credit cards, buy her things and so on. So don't think anyone will be surprised.
As a recent follower of this soap, you may wonder how characters are there one day, decide to emigrate in the afternoon and have gone- and settled in- by the next day....eg Sandy to Australia.
Time just doesn't seem to exist in soaps...!
"How did Sandy arrange the visa he would have needed to get into Australia?"
I agree with others that the time taken to arrange travel to Australia is pushing it a bit, but I know from experience you can get a Visa to travel there online in just a short time. You apply online and if it's authorised they send it to you by email and you print it off.
I hate to think what the fare was for Sandy booking his open ended return ticket at the last minute.
The Whites had their house sold and travel arrangements to Australia done in an impossibly short time! And as for Sandy, who seems to have gone there and not intend to come back, are there not conditions for elderly people intending to settle there that they must prove that they are financially able to support themselves before they are allowed to settle there? Given Sandy's age, the likelihood that he will need medical care would have required submission of proof of his financial status. I know it's fiction but....
.... and, of course, at any one time a third of the characters are in the coffee shop, a third in David's shop/bistro (but never actually buying anything) and the rest in the pub. Oops...forgot all the unfortunates who've taken up residence in the "local" hospital (private rooms, of course) in what must be called "the Emmerdale Ward".
