Im trying to collate lots of statistics and wondered if anyone knew how to convert information. most people have given me their height in feet - ie 5ft 2 inches, how do i convert this into inches and metres? I need to establish the body mass index of each person so need to get all information into metric (i think?!) Ta

To convert 5'2" into inches you simply multiply the number of feet (ie 5) x 12 (the number of inches in one foot) and then add the remaining two inches, which works out at 62 inches.

To convert this into metres you then multiply x 0.0254, so 5'2" works out at 62 x .0254 = 1.5748.

search the web with the words 'unit converter' - there's loads of websites and downloadable utilities that do this for you for all sorts of units
In Google, type in your measurement and what you want it converted into then press enter. Google will automatically use it's convertor function to give you the answer as well as a list of relevant sites.
cont.. for example, in Google type: five feet two inches in inches. This gives an immediate answer.
If you go on some health sites on the net you input your height and weight and it tells you your BMI.
