For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If a council ( or a private person) grits or salts a pavement and does a poor job so that someone still falls and injures themselves that person can sue the council or whoever cleared the footpath.However if the council do nothing the snow and ice count as an 'Act of God' and there is no chance to sue anyone.
Plenty of accident claim lawyers to help make a claim ! but even they can't sue God ! This is why councils will not clear pavements and footpaths , roads are a diffrent matter and the highway authoritys specify that they must be cleared, thus taking any claim out of the councils hands.
