I have windows 7 on Google Chrome and for the last few days when closing down I get the 'logging off: logo where the little circle just keeps spinning. The only way I can close down is by using the on/off button.Any ideas please.
I'm not sure of the relevance of your mention of Chrome. Do you close Chrome and then the computer or do you just close the computer and let it close Chrome for you?
Sounds as if you have a program running that does not quit and prevents shutdown, usualy third party software interupting the shutdown process. Will have a snoop around Danny, and get back.
You could try this Danny.
Press and hold down the power button until it shuts off. But keep the button held down for 10 seconds or so after it appears to have shut down(ie. the fan stops running) Start up again in safe mode. Shut down then boot normally.
To start in safe mode, press f8 repeatedly BEFORE the w7 little logo appears when you first switch on.
Avast, but that was problem long before this problem arose.I have just tried a restart and got past he logging off but then the same happened with 'shutting down'
Togo, thank you, that worked.I noticed in safe mode that it was showing I have Rapport which may be the cause of the problem but this does not show in my control panel.
If you are running avast running you can shut down rapport if you are not making online payments or banking on line. You can make the rapport dashboard appear by opening it checking show icon and hide it by checking hide. If you are banking online rapport is (in my humble) a good thing to have.
