Having been cut off for 9 days a few years ago, I have since then taken precautions. Tinned food in case the electricity and freezers go off. Logs for open fire ( thank goodness). Candles of all sorts. Battery torches. Gas hob which I can light from a match. Loads of quilts and blankets. Battery radios. And, most important of all, chains for my boots so if I absolutely must go out, I could trek to a petrol station for a few basics like milk, if my milkman can't make it.
Go on blizzards, chuck it at me. See who lasts longest.
