Have just had a call from Mikey's sister - and appalling news - unfortunately, he has passed away and at a relatively young age (well under 65), a massive heart attack as I understand.

Mikey was passionate, I think we can all agree with that. He wasn't my cup of tea politically but on that we had some fun with a few crazy bets - he will turn wherever he is on the 150 quid I cleaned up by betting on Cameron winning by 10-15 seats. He probably wasn't the flavour of the day for many on here but, rightly or wrongfully, he believed in his cause and the roots he came from.

I met Mikey, I guess four or five times down here, different locations, all involving a few drinks in a local hostelry and I can say that he had a rich sense of humour, almost of Welsh proportions though he wasn't a Taff, and he was inquisitive, curious and considerate of others.

I don't know what has happened to his 'Willy', his Yprkie terrier, but I bet that he is missing his master this evening - and I am sure that many of us wil also be on hearing this terrible news, be we right or left wing or don't care about politics at all.....rest in peace, Mikey.

I dont think so Jordy. It is up to those who wish to contribute and participate to make their own decision. There is no precedent.
I will wait to hear their wishes DTC, thank you
I would rather contribute to a charity than waste money on flowers.

From the photographs shown in Quoi's link, it looks as though it was a beautiful sunny day on the day Mikey died. I am pleased about that. He did like the sunny weather.

Thank you, Quoi, for posting that.
I agree Baths x
That is comforting that everyone around him did what they could. So sad though.
Well done those ABers who have posted kind comments beneath the WalesOnline article posted by quoi.
So sorry to read this sad news.
so sorry to have read this. often didn't agree with Mikey bach but he was interesting to converse with and read his replies to others. will raise my mug to you tomorrow my friend.
So very sorry to hear this. My sincerest condolences to Mikeys family.

Apologies for the lateness, haven't logged in for a few days and only just seen this!
Although a member I'm not a frequent poster but I do look in daily and when I heard about Mikey I was stunned . I enjoyed his take on life , he seemed to contribute to a lot of forums . I know he'll be missed and I'll miss seeing his avatar and name but not as much as his family will RIP
I'm really shocked. He did indeed have his own views on many subjects. Very sad. RIP Mickey.
I've not been on here for a while and I'm flabbergasted at this news.

Mikey and I were polar opposites as far as politics is concerned, but I'm truly shocked to the core!

It's taken me such a long time to read all the lovely posts from ABers, here, I'm finally posting this after 7pm.

"April is the cruellest month"? No! It's February! Personally I've known so many people who've passed away in February, it's unbelievable.

I will particularly miss Mikey and Naomi's 'spats', which were always a great source of information and, sometimes, entertainment!

It's also very saddening that wee Willy has had to leave too, but I'm sure he's very happy to be at his master's side where he belongs and
I hope that wherever Mikey has gone with his little companion, that they're ready for a "ruddy" dressing down, if there's no opera or Archers to listen to!

Sleep well, Mikey x
Nice post Genuine x
