I,ve just posted this question accidently in history and myths....! I have full sunshine in backyard all day but the plants I,ve potted all wilt and die. Can anyone recommend any sun loving plants that will thrive in the sunshine. Thanks ; )
Here's 4 for starters: Pelagoniums, petunias, pinks, nasturciums, however you do have to water every other day during a heatwave and twice a week in cooler temps..
Sedum is lovely and will spread and come up every year..very drought tolerant and loves to be in the sun.Lavender and rosemary like dry sunny conditions. Most summer bedding and hanging basket plants like full sun but you have to water them every day when the sun has gone in otherwise water droplets on them will make them shrivel.
We have full sun in the back garden every day and I haven't got any wilters or shrivellers.
Have you planted your stuff deep enough in good compost and been feeding them.Pots and baskets should be watered morning and evening and water retaining granules in the planting medium will help keep them moist.
Cistus or the rock rose loves hot and dry as do most mediterranean herbs (rosemary and lavender are excellent as mentioned)
Phoenix palms are good as is bamboo
Bananas, citrus, hibiscus, plumbego, are all good but will require frost protection
All bedding plants are superb, as are mini fruit trees. Sweetpeas grown in wigwams and runnerbeans grown the same are rewarding and you could try other fruit or veg in tubs.
Clematis does really well too and you can get lots of different colours. I also have honeysuckle, fucshia, wisteria and firethorn in full sun and they're all doing really well.
