Sorry danny/Edmund. I realise it must be pay (although it is RTE so maybe it is Pat) and Hades; and I agree the clue seems very odd unless the definition is "the ferryman to Hades" and we have missed the wordplay from the "who will pa" bit

Ha ha true- but mine was an aside and didn't make any difference to your understanding. If I was posting a clue I would make sure I included it in full and put it in the right box so it won't get truncated. I'd also respond to helpful suggestions/requests to set them out properly. I'd also say thankyou or at least acknowledge answers if I was posting lots of clues.

Typos are fine, we all do that now and then , but half of a cryptic clue is not worth much.
