No it was avoidance so therefore she should pay what is owed legally to HMRC
Islay - surely 'avoidance' is legal and is something that we should all do to minimise our tax bills?

This appears to be 'evasion' by means of a deception as to the worker's status and is therefore illegal.

As I said on Page 1, these people are grown-ups - they tried a scam/fiddle which has failed and should pay their bills themselves.
If you are deliberatly going out of your way to avoid paying the correct amount of tax - HMRC can demand that you pay the full amount.
