World Cup Boycott. Who Cares

So "Boris the Buffoon" threatens Russia that British "dignitaries" may boycott the World Cup in Russia in June over the possible poisoning of an ex spy. Does he honestly think that anyone in the World really cares whether they attend or not?

He's talking about government officials, not teams or journalists. And these events are effectively diplomatic affairs, so yes they probably do mind. Rather disgraceful that we were thinking of sending Boris and co in the first place.

Many politicians are desperate to find a reason not to attend any athletic promotion sponsored by Russia. Last time it was the Sochi Winter Olympics on the spurious excuse of the Russian attitude to homosexuality.

Well the Russians have given them the ideal excuse to attend no more Russian athletic events, that is for sure.

Dignitaries can do what they like. Within reason no one much cares whether they attend or not. But it would be an indication of the deteriorating Anglo-Russian relationship.

(IMO any boycott by the actual team is very unlikely, but were it to occur the loads of folk care about national pride in sporting events.)

Most football fans agree (Club and country) that holding the tournament in Russia was a bad idea on so many levels, except the innocent man at FIFA at the the time Septic Bladder.
For the wrong reasons (Political) I'm pleased that Will's isn't going... send in that man Harry, I've grown to like that fella a lot recently.
