Who Puts Their Bin Out To Save Their Parking Spot?
25 Answers
My neighbours do this and it drives me mad! We live at the end of a terrace street, I rarely have a problem parking right outside my front door, but whenever the neighbours go out they make a point of putting both their recycling and black bin spaced out in front of their house to stop anyone from parking there. It just seems really quite petty to me, especially when parking is rarely a problem.
Does anyone else religiously do this?

Our council changed their mind, food waste now goes into brown bin but only if there are no sharp jaggy garden things.
Sill occasionally have to go and play 'hunt the bin on collection day'

I'm quite well organised - so always put the correct bin out on the evening before bin day (they come at sparrowfart) - other neighbours then follow suit.
One evening I was working in the front garden, so my grey bin was on the pavement at the critical time as I loaded hedge trimmings into it - cue lots of other grey bins appearing.
But it was actually black bin week - so I swapped them over later - cue lots of other bins being swapped ...
... I had a wicked urge to continue the hokey-cokey by then putting the red and blue bins out ...

Thankfully, I dont have that problem and I wont at the new house. However, my neighbours object in the "strongest terms" to me parking on the verge outside their house to open/close my gates. Apparently their concern is that it will "mess the verge" up. Now this is not a sleepy residential street in clipped hedge suburbia, this is a single track road (road being a very loose description) through the fens. I would probably take them at their word if he wasnt for the fact that the amount of rubbish they store on said verge makes it look like the municipal tip. 11 days to go........
good grief! We still have black sacks here. All recycling goes in clear plastic sacks except for glass for which we have a box. No limit on how much we can put out either. The fun and games here is the wildlife. We have seagulls the size of ostriches....well the size of very large chickens...large chickens.....and feral cats and foxes. If the rubbish is put out too early then they rip the bags open and party. If its put out overnight its like the aftermath of Carnival the next day. There's this window of opportunity between about 9am and when the binmen come around 10 to 11 am. Its not like any of us put out much food waste, they will go after ANYTHING which smells of food. I do have one neighbour who doesn't even tolerate his own rubbish outside his house (I live on a shared circular drive space, two of us have no actual boundary with the road) and if any is left on his side of the drive entrance he moves it....no I NEVER do it on purpose......
