I'm not and did wonder at the time when and how many con artists would be crawl out of the woodwork. I suspect there will be a few more and a few more still that will get away with it. Human nature isn't always bright and breezy.

Good luck getting anybody interested in grasping this particular nettle.
A quick round of phone calls to editors or publishers and the whole messy but predictable thing will evaporate.
Much easier for community relations to pay a few chancers than to risk being confronted by spittle spraying activists and their wild-eyed followers.
