Sir Ken Dodd
A very funny comedian who did not have to rely on swearing and sexual comments unlike the current crop of 'comedians' to get a laugh

While I was a great fan of Ken Dodd and indeed he did not swear.
However he did make sexual comments (innuendos).
They showed a clip this morning where he said the ladies in the audience about your "husbands and boyfriends" and then pointed to one lady and said "and in your case both of them".
Also they showed an old "Good Old Days" a few months ago and he was on it.
He came out with a very long pole (his "tickling stick") and pushed it towards some of the ladies in the audience and made a few sexual comments.
OK not as rude as some modern comedians, but not true to say he never made sexual comments.

Seen dear Sir Ken's show at least 6 times now. The gags hardly differed from one show to the next - and yet I still laughed at every punch line.
"As King Harold was there with an arrow in his eye, his troops were shouting 'Keep blinking H, it will work its way out". And "Have you tried blowing your nose?" Priceless.

Can't stand Harry Hill either.
Doddy was wonderful. Watching the Audience With last night, I was reminded of what Roy Hudd said if him: he'd hit you with quickfire gags, relentlessly. I realised that I actually didn't get half the jokes: I was still trying to puzzle one out and realise he was about 3 gags ahead of me. But it didn't matter.
And he sang a song at the request of Dora Bryan, which he managed to sound touching while at the same time joking all the way through.
The best line might have been Frank Bruno's tho:
"How tall are you lying down Frank" gagged Doddy
"It depends what I'm looking up at" came the reply.
