An Update On My Brother

He's still in ICU.
He's now having dialysis, for the fluid retention I assume. I believe he still has pneumonia, and my SIL has said that he also has cirrhosis...Dr has said some medications can cause it. He's never been a heavy drinker.
Eating a bit, and wants to go home...who wouldn't?
I fear his hospital stay may be rather long.

He's had dialysis 4x so far. Apparently his blood pressure was low today...and he's a bit confused. :-(

Low BP is a very common side effect of dialysis, Pasta.....and this can lead to confusion......
I gather the dialysis wasn't planned in advance and it can take some time to settle on dialysis......being weighed before and after and working out just how much to dialyse takes some time....

I wish him well and you too as I know how hard it is when you're far away....x

You're welcome, Pasta.....if you google....too much fluid removed during dialysis.....you'll see what the side effects are.....muscle cramps are also very common....also, if you want to know more, look at "dry weight"

It's a complicated thing to get just right so the patient benefits from the dialysis without suffering afterwards...x
