Have you ever been in the situation where you only realised that you should have said something but, didn’t think about it until minutes afterwards?
It was my day to pick my two little granddaughters up from school this afternoon. It was the night that my son had his girls as he is separated from his s**g of a wife.
He hadn’t told me that as it was her birthday he had agreed that she should have the girls tonight. I turned up at their school and heard her laughter. She saw me and asked me whether my son had told me of the change of plan.
I said ,”no.”
What I Should, have said was, “oh, I thought you would have been out on the lash on your birthday!!!
As I walked down the street, I was kicking myself.
esprit d'escalier is thinking about things on the way out ( see title)
and scripal is that guy who was poisoned in Salisbury the other day- and only thought of "no thanks I dont want to be poisoned today" when he was on the park bench ....
and
Litvinenko was that other guy who was poisoned and died and should have said ' no polonium today thanks'
You might feel you've missed a chance to say something clever, but best to keep your mouth shut IMO. You can always say it later if you really think it's a good idea, but you can't unsay once it's out there.
Chrissa I speak from experience be careful what and how you speak about your ex dil, my MIL has been very nasty about her other DIL in front of her grandchildren - they have picked up on this and ask her why she doesn't like their mummy!
At the end of the day no matter what the gossips say she has given you grandchildren - who may come to resent you if you are not careful x
