Wind Speed Needed For Insurance

we have got a hole in the roof of our porch due to wind..insurance will not pay out as they say they have got recordings of wind speed in our area & they did not exceed 50 mph..also they say porch is quite an age...where can you get readings of wind speed?..also it gusts down the side of our property so will be different to speed in open area.... has anyone any help with this problem? I do know insurance firms do everything they can not to pay out.

The insurance company are probably basing their thinking upon the definitions embodied within the Beaufort Scale, where structural damage (of sound buildings) isn't expected with wind speeds of less than Strong Gale Force 9:
