Any suggestions as to what to buy for a new mum and baby. I don’t know either of the Mums and my husband is utterly clueless, as am I!

No particular budget but it’s more of a token gift.

If the baby is a girl, why not matching lockets ? Baby can have a picture of herself in hers, and will love it when she grows up a bit.
A bottle of prosecco or champagne?
More than one Mum?

If you don't know the Mum well, then something to wear is always apprecfiated.

A nice couple of 0-3 months babygrows are always appreciated, they get through them at a rate of knots!
Think about it...

To answer... prosecco and flowers.
When I had just had my son I was pleased to be given lovely dungarees for a one year old. Everyone gets babygros, which is great, they will use a lot, but putting him into those dungarees was really nice.
A small soft toy is always a good thing for new babies. Something animal-like and very soft that they can easily grip. Just don't be offended if the baby doesn't take to it - babies are just small people with their own idea of what they like and what they don't like. We bought a baby such a toy 2 or 3 years ago and it turned out to be the favourite toy that it took everywhere; it could just as easily have been a complete flop.
A pram cover?
Bootees?
A teddy?
A nice baby blanket?

A treasure box.... a lockable box or tin for the family to collect things like photos, baby teeth, first lock of hair etc. I always bought them for friends but started them off with a few items I thought were nice. Like guardian angel charms, a witch stone for protection
( a pebble with a hole through it) a tiny photo frame, things left me that.
Another option might be a gift card for a photographer. Pro photos are nice things to have later on.

box can be used as a grab and go kit for baby too
bit confused ,if you don't know them why a present?
They are probably friends of the hubby, Mallyh.
Presumably 2 Mums, no Dad.
did either of the mums actually give birth? If so booze, and stilton!
although obvs that wont be any good as a baby gift i suppose!

Thank you for the suggestions. Yes, two Mums, neither of whom I have met as one is a colleague of my husband.

This is 2018 not 1918!
A token gift of flowers I think....something ready arranged or a planted pot so no need to do anything except plonk them down somewhere and admire. Some places do a deal where you can add a teddy to the flowers for an extra sum. If the baby has older sibs then gifts for the older sibs seem to go down well.

I think I’ll go down the flowers and Prosecco route for the mums to celebrate their achievement, will keep an eye out for something for the little one though.
Have a look at Marks and Spencers gift range.....I like the champagne and chocolate option but they do some great baby birth gifts too.
