I read many years ago that as only the males have Y chromosomes, the Y chromosome is passed on from generation to generation almost unchanged for up to 30 generations. Therefore sons are going to inherit many of their father’s traits. This is not the same for females. Can anyone confirm or otherwise this and maybe elaborate on it? Bramley.
All children inherit chromosomes from both parents. Characteristics associated solely with the Y chromosome are a tiny proportion of the total of all characteristics inherited.
