old school space computer game

i'm looking for a space game where a space ship jumps onto different platforms almost. its pretty old but i used to love it. the game is played as if you are tailing the spaceship (almost like in the drivers set).

Ideas that never 'took off'

it wasn't it but your post some how kicked my brain into gear and i remember what its called - Game Sky Roads 3D! so in a weird way... thanks so much for your help!
