Hi, Kerry. I posted a similar question on the 13/14th of this month and it may be worth looking at the replies. Ford recommend cam belt changes for this model every 10 years or 100,000 miles but I think it would be foolish to go this long. I intend to change mine at 60,000. When/if you have yours done make sure the rollers and pulleys are changed as well ( full cam belt kit) because if a pulley fails the effect will be the same as the belt snapping. Cost at present seems to be around the 200 mark at good local garages; not main agents. Good luck.
I have a Ford Puma 1.7 and the recommended interval is every 40,000 miles.

I'm not sure if it's the same design as the 1.8 Mondeo lump, though.
most cars are 60-80 thousand miles but if your unsure go to a local garage they have a book that will tell you exactly when it needs changing according to your car, age, engine size and model.
i know VW's are 60,000 miles and peugeots are 80,000 miles
