bad luck to move home on friday?

my wife and i have been developing our new home for around 5 months (!) and will be finally ready to sleep the first night there this friday...however my father in law is forboding bad things for people moving house on fridays....something about affiars or marriage breakdowns or some such stuff we have been waiting far too long to worry too much about the day we move in but i was wondering if there is any truth or urban myth with regards to this kinda thing?

no, but if you discover problems with the gas electricity or water it might be difficult/expensive to get someone in to fix it! before monday!!! (bitter experience)

thanks! no worries with those sorts of problems - all major dramas (touch wood) that could happen pretty much have! he is adament that there is some kind of superstition - bizarre....anyone else know of this kinda thing?

going back to Frazier, friday is considered unlucky because of its association with the crucifixion. it is also a day of minor observance, so technically devout catholics would be fasting, precluding celebration.

I've grown up with the expression ' Friday flit is a short sit'. I've only done it once and I only stayed in the house just over a year. My mother in law won't move on a Friday - full stop.

I was always told it was Saturday flit, short sit. If it is Friday, why do most completion dates fall on a Friday?

My mate exchanged contracts on Friday 13th, and completed on a Friday which coincided with the anniversary of his brothers death and so far they are okay. Superstitions are only for those that want things to go wrong and something to blame for their problems.
