Ours was definitely among the better songs this year with its very catchy hook, SuRie performed it brilliantly and handled the stage invasion with enormous dignity and courage, yet we came 24th out of 26th. The U.K invests a lot of money in the Contest every year, yet for ages now our entry has got next to nil points. No doubt political voting and dislike of us because of Brexit will ensure that won’t change for a long time to come. So don’t you think we should just leave it altogether now?

Given the poltical voting it is entirely pointless for the UK to be a part of this competition. There are only two music powerhouses in the world, the UK and the USA, and as the USA don't compete, by rights we should be close to the top every year, and yet in 21 years we haven't even had a sniff of winning it. Some other countries occassionally produce decent acts,...

It's not Brexit, that's just this years excuse .
We very rarely do well in the Eurovision contest. 'UK, Nil points' used to be a standing Eurovision joke. I have heard a lot of people say that the person who tried to take the microphone was trying to do us a favour.
No, but I think we should stop this charade that it has anything to do with the song. Ours was pretty good this year but that does not matter because, Eurovision is basically an anti British club. PS does anyone have any idea what that moron was protesting about?
Yes, we should definitely pull out & give the money invested in the whole operation to better things. The UK would still be able to buy the programme for viewers to watch if they wanted. Nowadays the whole thing is a giant farce.
The only thing that made it watchable was Terry Wogan. Now that he's departed it's time this charade went with him.
I've not watched it for years and years. It became incredibly boring. Political considerations mean we will never win (I'm very glad about that actually, it must cost a fortune to host it). Songs are, usually, instantly forgettable, if I remember rightly, and it fills up BBC1 for a whole evening................

Change of heart - good thing about that is that I get on with other things! :)
Don't watch it, but yes we should pull out, it's becoming a farce for us now.
Israel won with an absolute pile of bilge...Eurovision isn't something to get het up about.
PS does anyone have any idea what that moron was protesting about?

Some other countries occassionally produce decent acts, but it is the USA and the UK which consistently does.

I haven't watched it since the 90s, so I must confess I have no idea of the level of quality of the songs, but I caught some of the winner's song this morning and it was utter 5hite - if that is the best that the contest produced, then then the other songs must have been absolute bilge.
