Friend was telling me she listens to the above radio station all day - it plays great music. Now I have a DAB radio and it brings up stations like (WORDS) Kiss, Downtown, Radio 2 and so on.
This station is on 89.3 (I think) but because radio is digital I can't manually tune into 89.3 - would anybody know of the NAME of the station so that I can maybe chase that up. Thanks
Digital Radio has a very limited range, unlike LW/MW, which you can hear hundreds of miles away.
As Mamyalynne says, make use of Computer and Log in to Belfast 89.
You can Log in to any Radio Station you want. I often do. No point in buying equipment you do not need, and not fit for purpose.
That part of the radio spectrum is reserved for BBC Radio 2. I can't imagine any other service being allocated 89.3 MHz in NI, as it would be likely to interfere with the Radio 2 transmitters in Larne (on 89.1) MHz and/or Brougher Mountain (89.4 MHz).
Oh, hang on. I've just checked. The station you're seeking uses a very lower power transmitter based at the Europa Hotel. (For comparison, the Radio 2 transmitter at Divis uses 250,000 watts of power. The Belfast 89FM transmitter uses just 30 watts, so it's got a very limited range).
thanks all for your input - I adore music and don't deprive myself of anything re music ie headphones etc so I bought a little analogue radio last night
I know you can listen to it on the computer but my computer is in one of my bedrooms and like I wouldn't sit at it all day per se.
So I can now turn on the headphones and go about my business in the house - cleaning. Hopefully that'll work
Nothing to do with the above but the deaf association gave me a mobile phone light - I keep it in the kitchen but the other night since it was a lovely day - I took it out to the back to read or maybe to crotchet and just as I did so - the light flashed - it was a friend who was in a bad way and so I was able to help her. All these aids that are out for the deaf are simply brilliant.
