Should The Uk Change The Abortion Laws In Northern Ireland ?

With the collapse of the Power Sharing Executive at Stormont last year, the province is in effect being run by ministers in Whitehall. Should they use that as an opportunity to relax the abortion laws in NI which are one of the most strict in the world?

They come together. Either they are in the customs union whilst the UK is out, or they remain in the UK when we all leave.

OG there is some confusion about the name for the country. The Irish Constitution says, "The name of the State is Éire, or, in the English language, Ireland."

However, under the later, 1948 Republic of Ireland Act, that says, "It is hereby declared that the description of the State shall be the Republic of Ireland."

That Act didn't amend the Constitution so you now have a different "name" and a "description" for the same country.

I use Eire or Republic of Ireland as it suits either me or my readers. It would be irresponsible to name the country the same as the whole island. Just common sense isn't it ? But it would be nice to firm up on one name for the south.
