I have just read my first Linwood Barclay "Far From True" was really enjoying it and thought I still had at least a couple of chapters to go as there were still 25 pages left and the killer still had to be disclosed, then I realised that they were the first 25 pages of another of his books. very puzzled at the ending, anyone else feel the same or do all his books end like this
Only just seen this Birdfeeder. I'm a big fan of Lynwood Barclay and have read and re-read all his books. I've never had a problem with any of his endings, so maybe it's just a matter of taste.
It seems to be a 'thing' now to put the first chapter of a book at the end of the last book written...it is to tempt you to buy it! I have read loads like this including Linwood Barclay and have never felt that the book I was actually reading was unfinished.....try going back to the end 2 or 3 chapters of the book you were actually reading and see if you haven't missed something. Now I always check what book the last pages are from because it does make it clear if you look.
Me again! I've just remembered Birdfeeder, Far From True is part of a trilogy, but I can't remember in which order they come, could this explain the ending as you may have more to read ?
I love Lynwood Barclay. His first book was his best imho. “No Time For Goodbye.” Brilliant plot and while you’re reading it, it surprises you, all the time.
I'm always sad when I get to the end of a book I have really enjoyed Chrissa, but he has written so many that there's always something good in the pipeline from him, thank goodness.
I too like Linwood Barclay and read most of his books. I hate books that don't conclude and you have to buy the next in the series. So thanks for the heads up.
Thanks everyone if as you say it is part of a trilogy then that may be the answer, i will have to look out for the next one, didn't mean I didn't enjoy the book just that i found the ending a puzzle
