I thought it might be a double definition - TROLL (to prowl around looking for bargains - ref merriam webster's online dictionary) but it doesn't end in S of course.

Hi I have the same magazine but have just got round to looking at it.
The answer I arrived at for the clue 'shops around for child's toy' was hoops.(Only a suggestion) I know it is a late answer but competition is still open
