My Birthday Treats
4 Answers
I've had the most wonderful weekend......set off on Thursday for a leisurely drive through The Cotswolds for a night in a smashing hotel..
It was clouding over as we drove into the busy car park so I pointed out a good space to you know who....
He gave me ten reasons why the space he saw was better....I stopped listening at reason six and he parked...in his space just as the heavens opened.
We dashed into the hotel as the rain, thunder and lightening entertained us for hours but eventually we could get out to fetch our luggage...except....
The car was in a lake.....a big lake....
He had parked in the one and only huge dip in the car park....there was no way we could get anything out of the boot so it was sleep in your knickers, Gness and hope the morning was better.
At two thirty the fire alarm went off and I was in my knickers....luckily the hotel towels were huge but I was the only person in the corridor looking like Julius Caesar on a bad hair day..... false alarm... :-)
The lake was still there in the morning but shopping in Malmesbury is a treat and I have new clothes....six duck eggs and some Lardy Cakes...
The kid's birthday treat for both of us was fantastic......can't say much about it here but it was one of the best and most unusual dinner treats.....however....
I did get locked in the bloody loo on a farm......the door locked from inside and out.....god knows why.....I hadn't noticed that a big latch on the outside came down when you shut the door and to get out you poked your finger through a hole in the door to lift the latch......I had had a couple of glasses by then but even so in the dark with my eyesight?????
Park your car in a lake man eventually rescued me...
The evening ended with a leisurely, if wobbly, stroll over a bridge and along the side of a river...but if I ever find the farmer who continued his electric fence along the other side of the wooden fence I decided to lean on to admire the river we shall have words!
Do you know what it feels like to be mellow and relaxed and catch hold, with both hands, of a live electric fence?
One of my best ever birthdays!.....Just bliss...... :-)
