But just to highlight the fact that they are not just picking on Islam they announce that the threat from 'extreme right-wing terrorism' was also growing and four plots had been disrupted since March last year.
Would they be four planned peaceful marches of protest?

But others may adapt their campaigns. The Pankhursts dropped theirs in order to promote war on Germany; Emmeline became a Tory, Christabel became an evangelist, and Sylvia, always my favourite, fought for independence for Ethiopia. Who knows how far the grand old men of al-Qaeda may go if they feel they've achieved their aims?

/I think the problem that many of us have is that the roots of Islamic terrorism is actually quite complicated//
Sure, SP. And I don't think anybody's ignoring the geo-political aspects of the phenomenon.
What I'm trying to do is correct for the converse error into which pretty well all Western leaders (inexplicably, in my view, given the resources and the information available to them) which is ignoring the religious and ideological aspects of terrorism.
Islam is not a collection devotional practices and moral homilies, it's a political project and has been from its inception. This is very difficult for Westerners to understand because we think of religion as largely a private matter, even in countries like ours which have a state religion. We believe in democracy, that our laws are made by our elected representatives and should be applied even-handedly to all. None of this attitudes and beliefs are Islamic, in fact they are profoundly un-Islamic.
A snippet of 21st century history from you and a snippet of 7th century history from me:
Mohammed was a judge, a general and a conqueror. He didn't make war because he'd turned his back on some nice luvvy, luvvy trees and fields be nice to people revelations he received from the angel Gabriel in a cave. He was doing what those revelations told him to do. "I have been made victorious through terror".

// The main inspiration of Middle Eastern terrorism is their sense of injustice.//
I am not sure - when they opened up on the 235 muslims in Sinai - it just seemed because they were the wrong kind of Muslim.
and some one has just written the roots of Islamic fundamentalism go back to Biblical times
anyone spot what is wrong with that ?
( think: 635AD can hardly be called biblical - but hell this is the daily Isis thread on AB!)

// And I don't think anybody's ignoring the geo-political aspects of the phenomenon.//
Believe me - some people are. Well, not 'ignoring' per se...it's just the the origins of 21st century terrorism is so incredibly complicated, that for many it's easiest to think of it in terms of "They hate our freedoms and want to destroy the West".
I think you are well-read enough to know that it's fundamentally more complex than that...however, if you start drilling down to understand the complexities of Middle East politics, after half an hour, you will have a) a serious headache and b) a slight nosebleed.

Upon returning to this farcically based thread, I felt compelled to just highlight this bit:
AOG in his OP
‘four plots had been disrupted since March last year.
Would they be four planned peaceful marches of protest? ‘
Gromit then picks up on this and comments:
‘You seem to be asserting that 4 peaceful marches have been classed as terrorism threats’
To which AOG then replies:
‘No I haven’t’
Is there any wonder AOGs plots go off course!

v_e, //Didn't Hagar and Ishmael get kicked out when Sadie got pregnant? //
Spot on - not to mention Jacob’s little debacle with Esau later on in the saga.

Not ‘someone’ - me – and since Islam dismisses the fact that it was invented in the 7th century AD, there’s nothing wrong with it. Read and learn.

Ah! Thanks for clearing matters up sp, the madman that killed Jo Cox, wasn't a far-right terrorist at all, he was in fact, just a murderer.

Which is true, since the reasons for the arrests have not been mentioned, I was just asking a question. This is AB isn't it.
Is there any wonder AOGs plots go off course! when there are the likes of you around, to steer them off course.
