I remember reading a report of a police force in the US who decided to train cats to sniff out drugs. It was easy to train them but when it came to doing the job in a real situation the cat refused to move and went back to the car for snooze.

I think that most cats would freak out at the strange arena and noises, but some breeds are more confident and sociable.

I thought about the potential cruelty aspect but I don't really think that is an issue.

Whether performing cats are a good idea - I am not convinced that it is the new trend. Training my two would me totally insane.

What on Earth Huxley has to do with training cats is a bit beyond me too. But then you always do try to confuse the issue with classical references which few, if any, understand in some sort of ‘look at me aren’t I the smart one’ way.

My sisters cats were trained to do tricks, ring a bell on command, roll over simple things like that so long as there was a prawn at the end of it
