I had the 'Medical Reference Book' treatment, Mamya.
The GP crept up behind me and slammed it down on my outstretched hand.
Instead of having a lumpy right hand......I was left with a bright-red lumpy right hand. :o{

Apparently bashing it can solve the problem, albeit temporarily in some cases.

Personally I wouldn't fancy trying that as a means to getting rid.

I had one of these. I worked out that it was the result of my doing something with the back of that hand. Then I stopped doing that. The lump went away in a month or two. No bashing required.

Aspiration with a large bore needle sometimes works as well
